Celebrating Financial Independence Thanks to Social Security
As we celebrate our nation’s independence today, the Social Security Administration reminds everyone that it is looking out for your financial independence. For more than 85 years, its programs have helped provide programs and benefits to Americans of all ages.
While most people think of Social Security as benefits for retirees, it also provides spousal benefits, disability benefits, and supplemental security income. Social Security can also assist people with Medicare and Medicare prescription drug costs.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) and increased minimum benefits. This bill will also ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program — making sure it is available to all who need it.
